Most foreigners find baijiu tastes like diesel fuel, while a liquor connoisseur may find high quality, expensive baijiu quite good. Authorities arrested persons on allegations of revealing state secrets, subversion, and other crimes as a means to suppress political dissent and public advocacy. This chapter examines the current state of identity formation among Asian Americans, particularly the identity development among the growing numbers of second generation4 Asian Americans. Of the 1975 population of 425,000, only 200,000 Chinese survived the next four years.
